Description
The Unwooded Advantage
Sourced from the limestone-rich soils of the Robertson Valley, the Herons Nest Chardonnay is fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks. This “unwooded” approach preserves the delicate primary fruit aromas that are often masked by oak barrels. The result is a wine that is lean, mineral-driven, and incredibly refreshing—ideal for those who enjoy the structure of Chardonnay but prefer a cleaner, zesty finish.
Tasting Profile & Sensory Notes
This Chardonnay is designed for balance and brightness:
The Nose: Enticing aromas of fresh lemon zest, white pear, and a subtle hint of tropical pineapple.
The Palate: Light-to-medium bodied with a smooth, almost creamy texture (despite the lack of oak). You’ll find layers of grapefruit, yellow apple, and a crisp flinty minerality.
The Finish: A zesty, mouth-watering finish that leaves the palate feeling refreshed and clean.
Why Keep a Case of 6?
The “Anytime” White: Because it isn’t heavy or “oaky,” it is incredibly easy to pair with food or enjoy on its own.
Food Pairing: An elite partner for the lighter side of the menu:
Seafood: Grilled line fish, calamari steaks, or fresh mussels in a white wine sauce.
Poultry: Roast chicken with lemon and thyme or creamy chicken pasta.
Salads: Caesar salads or anything featuring avocado and feta.
Service: Best served well-chilled (8°C – 10°C) to highlight its vibrant acidity.
