Description
A True Robertson Shiraz
The Stonedale range is born from the unique terroir of the Robertson Wine Valley, where lime-rich soils and warm sunny days create the perfect conditions for Shiraz to thrive. Crafted by the Burger family at Rietvallei Wine Estate, this wine is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its bright primary fruit, with careful wood maturation to add complexity without overpowering the natural varietal character.
Tasting Profile & Sensory Notes
This Shiraz is designed to be expressive and “punchy” while remaining elegant:
The Nose: An enticing aromatic profile featuring ripe plums, mulberries, and an unmistakable dusting of cracked black pepper and hints of liquorice.
The Palate: Medium-to-full bodied with a juicy, mouth-filling texture. You’ll find layers of dark fruit and savory spice, supported by fine, ripe tannins that provide just the right amount of structure.
The Finish: A clean, lingering finish with a touch of savory oak and persistent fruit.
Why Keep a Case of 6?
The “Braai” Master: Shiraz is arguably South Africa’s best partner for the BBQ. This wine stands up brilliantly to the smoke and spice of grilled meats.
Excellent Longevity: While it’s made for immediate enjoyment, its solid structure means it will hold its quality beautifully in your wine rack over the next 2–3 years.
Food Pairing: Perfect with spicy sausages, venison, pepper-crusted steaks, or even a rich chocolate-based dessert.
