Description
A Bold Trio: Syrah, Mourvèdre & Grenache
The Rebeland SMG is a classic Southern Rhône-inspired blend crafted by the team at Journey’s End. Sourced primarily from the Swartland region—known for its ancient soils and sun-baked vineyards—this wine captures the intense fruit concentration and natural spice that the area is world-famous for.
Tasting Profile & Experience
Each varietal in the SMG trio plays a vital role in the final harmony of the wine:
The Nose: An aromatic bouquet filled with spicy notes of nutmeg and black pepper, complemented by bright red cherries and a hint of forest floor.
The Palate: Grenache provides a soft, juicy core of strawberry and plum fruit, while Mourvèdre adds darker berry notes and a savory edge. The Syrah (Shiraz) anchors the blend with its signature weight, dark chocolate undertones, and persistent spice.
The Finish: Smooth and lingering with very fine tannins, making it exceptionally accessible even when young.
Why a Case of 6?
The Social Red: Because it lacks harsh, drying tannins, this is a “crowd-pleaser” that appeals to both seasoned red wine drinkers and those who prefer a smoother style.
Food Pairings: A phenomenal partner for Mediterranean cuisine. It shines alongside lamb shanks, wood-fired pizzas, game meats (like venison), or a traditional South African “potjiekos.”
Best Served: Enjoy at a cool room temperature (16°C – 18°C) to allow the spicy aromatics to fully express themselves.
